The Fun Four Bonspiel

The Grand Forks Curling Club continued to celebrate its Centennial year by holding a Fun Bonspiel last Saturday. The theme of this very successful first time event was Four. In addition to the four sheets of ice, the games were all four ends, the entry fee was $4 per person and all teams were guaranteed four games.

Veteran curler Norm Arnott was the A event winner, skipping his team of Dalton Gagne, Caroline Marks and Tracey Davies to a first place finish. The B final victor was Doug Bannert and his team of Juanita Bannert, Larry Minifie and Paul Lewis. The Gerry Foster foursome including Neil Macgregor, Deb Steadman and Donna Olson, captured the C event. The ultimate winners on this day were nine new curlers who were participating in their first ever bonspiel. It was a unique experience which they will always remember. This was a social sporting event with lots of laughter, mutual encouragement and support, and superb shot-making. The consensus from the curlers was to make this an annual tournament on the calendar.
