The Rocker Reynolds Mixed Bonspiel brought the 2009-10 season to an end on March 28th. Twenty-eight teams were entered in this annual spiel and when the rocks stopped sliding, Kevin Maffioli and his team of Teresa Hiram, Daryl Popoff and Louise Popoff had won the A Event. Randy Uyeyama claimed first in the B Event. Also on this team were Linda Moore, Sven Bourgh and Stacy Ludwar. Capturing the C Event was the Patrick Campbell foursome with Randi Ludwar, Hector Zammit and Kelsey Semenoff. George Hawkins won the Draw to the Button contest. A special celebration was held during the event on Friday evening, commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Curling Club in Grand Forks. The President of Curl BC, Jim Mann, was on hand to bring greetings on behalf of curlers from around the province. The ceremonial first rock featured four curlers who had contributed much time and energy over many years to make this curling facility possible. Ken Lockhart, Mikki Hamagami, Jack Onions and Angus MacKay used the old, personal rocks of the late Wes Docksteader for this part of the proceedings. Former Canadian and World Champion Rick Folk was the guest speaker. |
